Chamber of Comerce and Industry Dolj County together with University of Craiova and IPA SA organize  within 25th-26th of November  the event “Oltenia – pole of design and manufacturing” adresed to SMEs in South-West Oltenia Region.  The event aims to close the academic environment and socio-economic environment.
This  event intents to be a real „economic forum”, directed to business and colaboration between the academic and economic environment, by introducing of new metods of preparing specialists  from SMEs , based on problems (Problem based learning - PBL) .
ARCHIMEDES project and the PBL platform will be presented on 25th of November within the event  Oltenia – pole of design and manufacturing

23th November 2016 Ireland, Addressing emerging problems facing SMEs in Ireland

As we emerge from one of the most difficult recessionary periods new challenges are now facing SMEs,  amongst them Brexit, which is creating a huge amount of uncertainty in the economy and its future. This event examines some of these challenges that SMEs will face; it will look at how small businesses can address these problems and use these problems as a learning tool. It will look at how SMEs can engage employees to solve problems facing them using a structured learning approach, developed by the Archimedes project which the University of Limerick is currently co-ordinating.
This event will be addressed by Minister of State for Employment and Small Business, Pat Breen, TD.
It will offer you an opportunity to:
·         Hear the problems experienced by SMEs  and how they address these.
·         Network with SMEs.
·         Hear of a practical approach, which may be used by SMEs, to solve problems.

A webinar was held with 5 participants to inform them of the Archimedes platform and learning material and how to access this.

22th April 2016 Campus Essen Gebäude WST, Berliner Str. 6 – 8, 45127 Essen, Workshop within the European project Archimedes

  • 52 have been invited to the workshop in Essen. 27 participants attended the meeting. 10 people of them were managers and staff from SMEs. 10 participants were students from the University Duisburg-Essen who are going to be entrepreneurs after their studies. 7 participants were trainers in the companies being interested to be PBL facilitators.
  • Information materials about the project and the workshop have been sent to the participants by email three weeks before the workshop.
  • At the beginning of the workshop Ileana Hamburg presented the contents of the project and an introduction of PBL. The presentation prepared by Emma in English language was used as a basis for the introduction. The explanation was given in German language. The discussion was about the organisation of the learning programme and possible certifications. After that Sascha Bucksch presented the ICT platform, developed within the project. He explained the purpose of the platform, its contents and how to register.
  • The last part of the workshop was dedicated to explain the accreditation process, which will conducted by the University of Limerick. We provided to stay in contact for further questions. The learners will receive information about (weekly) course dates. Cooperative learning sessions will be provided online or face to face at the Institute for Work and Technology.

20th April 2016 Lisbon, AIP-CCI, Workshop on Problem Based Learning

The workshop was held in the main auditorium of the AIP-CCI. The room was arranged in a U shape in order to enable the facilitator direct access to various interlocutors to answer questions or more specific clarification.

The workshop took place on timings established in the program. The final item on the agenda, for questions and clarifications, was fully exploited and all doubts were answered.

However, it was suggested to the group the possibility of interruption to clarify doubts whenever they wanted, throughout the presentation of the course and its respective process, which came to happen.

20th April 2016 Craiova - Romania, Archimedes workshop on problem based learning

The Archimedes project - Problem based learning for SMEs, was presented, the activities and results in Craiova, the courses, how the participants can register for the courses, facilities and advantages.
An overview of problem based learning was presented with some highlights on what is problem based learning, using problem based learning, course structure, course delivery and schedule, learner requirements
The ICT platform was presented and a demo was provided: using the learning material, using the solved problems, using the learner forum.
The aim of the Archimedes project is to address some of the problems SMEs have with current training.
This will be done by developing a solution to develop skills that address their real needs while maximising ROI and minimising time spent away from the workplace.
Archimedes aims to address all the issues by developing a learning solution centered around the problems SMEs face. In the proposed solution the employee solves a problem within the organisation and learns key skills as a result. This solution is expected to provide an immediate ROI, is tailored to the SME needs and can be conducted on the job.
In a second step a demonstration on Archimedes system - Problem based learning for SMEs, presentation of the courses and web site, how to register, how to participle at the courses, additional services.
The great number of questions showed the interest of participants.

14th April 2016 Craiova - Romania, Cluster Roadshow

The Cluster Road show was the main event presenting the JAP – Joint Action Plan and supporting measures for a mobility plan, personal formation, e-learning system base on SME’s necessities.
It was present 168 participants, from Universities, Local Administration, companies, Regional Development Agency, members of the Cluster, Chamber of Commerce and Industry, experts in the field, National and Regional Associations.

The large discussions and great numbers of questions addressed confirmed the high interest of the participants, relevance of the materials and presentations, necessities of the Cluster and JAP.

11th April 2016

Meeting with Georgian delegates regarding the Archimedes platform and learning material. It was emphasised to the delegates that the course material and platform is open source and the University of Limerick would be prepared to work with Georgian Universities to adapt the course to their needs

11th December 2015, Presentation to facilitate network

Yvonne Delaney presented Archimedes at the national forum for problem based learning in Ireland (FACILITATE). The project was well received and seen as very innovative. Further information was requested from Alison Farrell teaching and learning maynooth

30th November 2015, Craiova, Romania, Innovation, Formation and Clusters in benefit of SMEs - KIC InnoEnergy, IPA CIFATT

Innovation, Formation and Clusters in benefit of SMEs - KIC InnoEnergy – a sustainable energy system for Europe through close integration of research, innovation and education (present list is below)

During this events, were discussed:

  • Solutions regarding promoting of innovation, entrepreneurship and education in the sustainable energy field by bringing together academics, businesses and research institutes. 

The goal is to make a positive impact on sustainable energy in Europe.

  • Solutions regarding coordination and support action funded under the 7th Framework Programme and addresses to the official EU Strategy for the Danube Region (EUSDR) in the field of research and innovation.
  • Solutions regarding the entrepreunerial formation, start-ups and innovative companies, identify current learning practices in SMEs, Identify the current challenges SMEs face.
  • Create a learner support network to assist employees in SMEs to solve relevant issues.
  • Develop IT tools to assist SME learning through problems.

26th-28th November 2015, Siauliai, Lithuania, Trade and Achievement Exhibition „Siauliai 2015“

At Trade and Achievement Exhibition „Siauliai 2015“ on the 26-28 of November the largest manufacturers of Siauliai, organisations, small and medium enterprises from Lithuania, Latvia, Poland, France, Germany, Estonia, Russia and other countries presented services, newest products and business solutions. The exhibition multi-sectoral, the biggest regional exhibition in Lithuania (about 200 participants and more than 15 000 visitors).

The theme of 2015 year: Effective, Innovative, Key Solutions and it was the 20th anniversary exhibition.

The annual trade exhibition provides an excellent opportunity to show growing small and medium business potential, thus giving meaning to a work done through the year.

The exhibition was visited by official delegations and ambassadors from France, Germany, Chech Republic, Russia, Estonia, Poland, Belarussia.

26th November 2015, Craiova, Gala Top Companies and Expo “Made in Oltenia Region”

County Chamber of Commerce and Industry organized annually the most important business event of the year: Gala Top Companies and Expo “Produced in Oltenia Region”. During this event were rewarded the successful companies from Dolj county, who have qualified in the top, based on a nationally unique methodology that took into account the financial indicators in 2014. The information sources used for selection were:

    • The information in companies' financial statements for the previous year, in accordance with European Directives from the Ministry of Finance;
    • Information about the companies legally registered in Romania, provided by the National Trade Register Office;
    •  Information about firms, resulted from county commerce chambers;

The invited companies are involved in the following activity fields:

  • Research, Development and High - Tech;
  • Agriculture, Forestry, Fishing;
  • Construction;
  • Services;
  • Trade and Tourism;

The event was coordinated and led by Mr. Gabriel Vlad as President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Dolj. At the end of the opening speech, Mr. Gabriel Vladut made a short presentation of the ARCHIMEDES Project, showing achievements and goals that are very important for the city of Craiova.

18th-20th November 2015: The European SME Week

The European SME Week is a pan-European campaign that aims to promote entrepreneurship in Europe.
It helps existing entrepreneurs find information on available support and tries to encourage more people to set up their own businesses.
Coordinated by the European Commission, this campaign consists of events throughout the whole year.

Main objectives of the SME Week

  • to inform entrepreneurs about support available at EU, national, regional, and local level;
  • to encourage more people to become entrepreneurs.

How does it work?

The European SME Week gives a chance to organisations providing business support services to promote them to entrepreneurs in Europe. Organisations can benefit from the branding and the promotion of their events through a central website located on the Europa website.
Events will be held across the 37 participating countries with a majority of European and international events taking place in Brussels.
The main event takes place together with the SME Assembly and the European Enterprise Promotion Awards Ceremony.

The 2015 SME Assembly takes place in Luxembourg on 18-20 November 2015.

9th November 2015: Symposium "Advanced technologies and materials for construction"

The Symposium "Advanced technologies and materials for construction"
Is dedicate to business in Oltenia Region and is an event that gathers representatives of business and local authorities, to stimulate balanced economic development in the region.
The Symposium "Advanced technologies and materials for construction"
is an event that discuss current challenges in the business environment in constructions and make a presentation regarding new technologies and new materials used in constructions. The focus is on people, role models, daily updates, information and inspiration on the use of new technology, modern marketing and financing instruments.
The University of Craiova and Mechanical Faculty Craiova were the host for this event.
Also, the event was organized with the help of Chamber of Commerce and Industry Dolj, and took place on November 09, in the auditorium of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering.
The conference aims to facilitate creating and developing partnerships and links between entrepreneurs from Craiova region and to provide relevant information on current issues about new technologies and materials in constructions.
The event was divided into two sessions:
The information provided at the conference were delivered by renowned speakers, experts in their field, successful entrepreneurs and representatives of institutions or associations.
During the event was also made a brief presentation of the projects: CHUMS, DOROTHY and ARCHIMEDES, as a best practice, projects that involved member of the competitiveness pole, namely SC IPA SA Craiova.
The presentation introduced some results that can be useful for the participants to symposium.  -  - Analyze of the Innovation and Policy projects in subdomains of Urban Mobility.
-Analyze of economic and environmental benefits by applies of CHUMS measures.
-Archimedes Project, part of Erasmus Program, aims to build relationships between industry and education providers.

23th October 2015 Craiova - Romania, Solutions for productivity, cost reduction and business communication or academics based on modern technology

Polisea SA, partner Silver Microsoft, together with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Dolj, organized the event "Solutions for productivity, cost reduction and business communication or academics based on modern technologies" to find out how to help products and informatics solutions and the development and efficiency of your work.

15th-16th October 2015 Bucharest - Romania, Forum for Innovation

We launched the Forum for Innovation with the goal of pushing innovation and growth research in new directions, all while keeping an eye on the necessities and the practical implications for people running actual companies.

The goal of the Forum is to discover, develop, and disseminate best practice, robust, accessible, applied theory in the areas of innovation and general management. We judge our success by our ability to shape debate and to make a difference i​n the lives of general managers by bringing useful new approaches to bear on their most critical growth and innovation challenges, to put together research and business environments to find solutions. 

Our goal is not so much to teach our community what to think, but rather to continually better understand how to think.
